Pediatric Chiropractic Care in Redlands

Many people are surprised to find out that there is a such thing as "pediatric chiropractic". While not many kids have back pain, they all have a spine and nervous system, and it is just as important for kids (if not more) to make sure they are functioning at their best. With our focus being on NeuroStructural Correction, we check kids for structural shifts (or subluxations) that may be keeping their nervous system from working and developing like it should.

Why would a kid need an adjustment?

As with adults, the many physical, emotional or chemical stresses that happen in life can cause NeuroStructural dysfunction. The biggest cause of this is babies is the birth process itself. There can be upwards of 90 pounds of force used to pull a baby out, often leading to misalignment in the upper part of the neck. As they grow and start to sit up, crawl, stand up and start to walk, any parent will tell you they will fall and bang their heads countless times. Other children may have issues relating to sports, excessive TV and video games and many other possible stressors.

How would a parent know?

While many kids are brought in because they have a particular symptom or condition, we also check kids that are asymptomatic because subluxations can exist for a long time before causing symptoms, making it difficult for a parent to know. Some of the secondary conditions (symptoms) that a child may present with are:

Newborns

  • Colic
  • Ear infections
  • Reflux
  • Trouble nursing
  • Sleeping difficulties
  • Torticollis (trouble turning neck to one side)
  • Arches back
  • Frequent crying
  • Constipation
  • Seizures

Toddlers and Bigger Children

  • Bed wetting
  • Poor posture (High shoulder or high hip)
  • Insomnia
  • Growing pains
  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Allergies
